A VERY FINE Meissen Heroldt harbour scenes chocolate cup, C.1730/5. VERY RARE. VERY UNUSUALLY hand painted harbour scenes in puce. Also, the added luxury of yellow back ground. I have seen the wonderful harbour scenes by Heroldt in multi colours. VERY early crossed swords marked pre 1760 to underside of base. CONDITION :- EXCELLENT considering near 300 years old. Upon very close examination, all I find is a crack to the bottom of the handle, and a very very faint short hairline at top rim near handle. No other damage or restoration. I have had this fine cup in my personal collection for years, and thought it perfect. It was only after cleaning did I eventually find anything, and even now, it is hard to see, except very close inspection. Displays as perfect.
