This violin is labeled Antonius Stradivari Cremonensis model full size made in Germany circa 1880-1900. The tone is very nice. It plays well and sounds good. The back is 14-1/4". The two piece maple, matching ribs, neck, and scroll are beautiful. This violin is not the typical lower grade rubbage from the Saxon/Bohemian region of that era. The spruce is nice grain widening slightly at the edges. The back is cleated with diamond shaped cleats at the seam. German steel core silver wound strings gives this violin a sweet, romantic tone. It is a brown and red varnish over gold with the wear and tear of a well-playedinstrument that has been restored a few times. I can see with my scope many cleats on the top's inside where numerous repairs were previously done. I do my best to describe these...
