This violin is labeled Copy of Antonius Stradivari Cremonensis made in Germany circa 1900-1920. The tone is very nice. It plays well and sounds good. The back is 14-1/8". The scroll has very fancy engraving on the back. It also appears to have a bone nut. The back button has two pins in it. The two piece maple, matching ribs, neck, and scroll are beautiful. This violin is not the typical lower grade rubbage from the Saxon/Bohemian region of that era. The spruce is nice grain widening slightly at the edges. German steel core silver wound strings gives this violin a sweet, romantic tone. It is a brown varnish over gold with the wear and tear of a well-played instrument that has been repaired a few times but is in good shape. I can see with my scope cleats in the top's inside where repairs...
