This bronze medal is from the 1893 Columbian Exposition (also known as the Chicago World's Fair). It was awarded to Dr. C. H. Land who was a renowned dentist. The medal is three inches in diameter and in its original case. Augustus Saint-Gaudens was the engraver for the obverse and Charles E. Barber for the reverse. The obverse shows a full figure of Columbus in armor stepping on land as he was discovering America. On the obverse it reads CHRISTOPHER - COLVMBVS - OCT-XII - MCCCCXCII. The reverse shows a panel in the center, above the panel it shows two angels flanking a globe. Below the panel it shows a ship, probably the Santa Maria. On the panel it reads WORLD'S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION - IN COMMEMORATION OF THE - FOUR HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY - OF THE LANDING OF COLUMBUS - MDCCCXCII - MDCCC...
