Vintage ~ c1890 ~ "White Sewing Machine Co." "Peerless" Sewing Machine with Case
This lovely "Peerless" hand sewing machine was manufactured by the "White Sewing Machine Company" of Cleveland, Ohio, USA. The machine has retained much of its' lovely original gilt decoration work, however, inevitably, it is worn around the arm where it has been picked up over the years. The central illustration of a pastoral scene with two dear is still clear with good detail. The model name "Peerless" is still readable to the top arm. The black japanning has worn in places, mainly, around the edges of the base. The casting to the legs, arms and base are still crisp and clean and there are no chips or cracks.
